Ivanacara bimaculata is a rare and captivating cichlid endemic to Guyana, where it inhabits the slow-moving blackwater systems of the Potaro River and Essequibo River.
This species is prized for its striking electric blue sheen that shimmers across the body under proper lighting, making it a standout centerpiece in any South American biotope aquarium. Compared to its close relative, Ivanacara adoketa, I. bimaculata is generally regarded as the more even-tempered option, offering the beauty of the genus with slightly less aggression.
An excellent choice for experienced hobbyists seeking something unique, Ivanacara bimaculata combines rarity, vibrant coloration, and engaging cichlid behavior in one remarkable species.
