Amano and long-nose shrimp are widely used in planted tanks to help control algae. Amano shrimp generally do not breed in freshwater aquariums, as their larvae need brackish water. Sulawesi species need stable, warmer water with a higher pH than most Caridina, so they are best kept in their own tank.
